We are seeking a passionate and dedicated VPK Assistant Teacher to join our early childhood education team! In this vital role, you will support the lead teacher in creating a nurturing, engaging, and educational environment for young learners in the Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) program. Responsibilities
- Assist the lead teacher in implementing daily lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, including literacy, math, and social skills activities
- Support classroom management by encouraging positive behavior and helping maintain a safe, organized learning environment
- Engage children in age-appropriate activities that promote early childhood development, including language skills, motor skills, and social interactions
- Work closely with children with diverse needs, including those with disabilities or autism, providing personalized support as needed
- Help prepare classroom materials and educational resources to enhance lesson delivery and student engagement
- Foster effective communication with children, parents, and team members to ensure a collaborative approach to education
- Monitor and document children's progress, behavior, and developmental milestones for ongoing assessment
Requirements
- Prior experience working with young children in daycare, preschool, or private school settings is highly preferred
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles, including childhood development and behavior management strategies
- Familiarity with special education practices and working with individuals with autism or disabilities is a plus
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and colleagues
- Ability to assist with lesson planning and curriculum development tailored to preschool learners
- Experience with classroom management techniques that promote positive behavior and engagement
- Certification or coursework in early childhood education or related fields is desirable but not mandatory; relevant training will be provided on the job
