The Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of assigned operational departments within a high-volume aviation catering environment. This role supports departments such as Transportation, Sanitation, Warehousing, Equipment, and Customer Service to ensure operational goals are achieved safely, efficiently, and in accordance with airline customer requirements and company standards.
Reporting to the Operations Manager or Unit General Manager, the Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising frontline employees, monitoring daily operations, ensuring compliance with food safety and safety standards, and maintaining productivity and service levels. This role serves as a hands-on leader who promotes teamwork, accountability, and operational excellence while supporting continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations & Production Support
- Supervise daily operations within assigned departments, including Transportation, Sanitation, Equipment, Warehousing, and Customer Service as needed.
- Ensure all operational activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with customer specifications and company standards.
- Monitor daily staffing levels and adjust assignments to meet operational demand.
- Ensure airline schedules and service requirements are met consistently and on time.
- Identify operational challenges and implement solutions to maintain workflow and productivity.
- Communicate operational priorities and updates to frontline employees and leadership.
Team Leadership & Employee Development
- Supervise and provide daily direction to frontline employees.
- Train, coach, and develop employees to ensure they understand operational procedures and performance expectations.
- Monitor attendance, productivity, and employee performance.
- Conduct performance discussions and provide coaching to improve employee effectiveness.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
- Assist with employee recognition, disciplinary actions, and investigations in partnership with Human Resources.
Food Safety, Quality & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP, SSOP, FDA, USDA, TSA, and company food safety and quality standards.
- Monitor sanitation and operational practices to ensure a safe and clean working environment.
- Participate in audits and inspections and assist in implementing corrective actions as required.
- Ensure employees adhere to all safety, food safety, and security procedures.
- Immediately report and address any safety, quality, or compliance concerns.
Safety & Security
- Promote a culture of safety throughout the operation.
- Conduct safety observations and reinforce safe work practices.
- Ensure employees wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions promptly.
- Support workplace safety initiatives and training programs.
Process Improvement & Operational Excellence
- Assist management in identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency and service delivery.
- Support implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and process improvements.
- Monitor productivity and labor utilization to ensure efficient operations.
- Participate in company initiatives related to Lean Manufacturing, HACCP, Workplace Safety, and Continuous Improvement.
- Support VIP flights, special events, and operational projects as assigned.
NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Other duties as assigned by management.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate Degree in Business, Operations Management, Hospitality, Culinary, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of supervisory experience in operations, food production, airline catering, manufacturing, hospitality, logistics, or related industries.
- Experience in a high-volume operational environment strongly preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience supervising frontline employees and managing daily operations.
- Knowledge of food safety, HACCP, GMP, and sanitation requirements preferred.
- Strong leadership and employee relations skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
- Ability to solve operational and customer service issues effectively.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Ability to meet requirements necessary to obtain a Port Authority / Port ID badge in accordance with TSA regulations.
- Must be able to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, and varying shifts.
- Ability to read and write in English.

Work Environment
- The essential functions of this position are performed indoors within an aviation catering and food production environment.

- This position requires frequent interaction with Operations, Culinary, Quality Assurance, Transportation, Warehousing, and Customer Service teams to ensure safe and efficient operations.
