We are seeking an Operations Manager to help manage the day-to-day operations of Dark Alpha Capital and support the continued growth of the firm and its investment activities.
The Role
The Operations Manager will serve as a central operating resource across Dark Alpha Capital.
This is a broad role covering firm operations, human resources, project management, administrative systems, recruiting, internal coordination, and execution support. The Operations Manager will work directly with firm leadership and collaborate with professionals and contractors working across our:
- Private Equity group
- Special Situations group
- Proprietary Trading group
- Technology, data, and AI initiatives
- Firm-wide administrative and operating functions
The ideal candidate is highly organized, resourceful, comfortable managing many projects simultaneously, and willing to take responsibility for getting things done rather than simply coordinating meetings or maintaining task lists.
Key Responsibilities
Firm Operations
Manage and continuously improve the firm’s day-to-day operating infrastructure, including internal processes, documentation, vendors, software systems, workflows, scheduling, and administrative procedures.
Help establish repeatable systems that allow Dark Alpha Capital to operate efficiently as the firm, investment portfolio, and team grow.
Maintain visibility into important projects, deadlines, deliverables, and outstanding issues across the organization.
Identify operational bottlenecks and work with leadership and team members to resolve them.
Human Resources and Recruiting
The Operations Manager will also have significant responsibility for the firm’s HR function.
Responsibilities may include:
- Coordinating recruiting and candidate pipelines
- Posting positions and sourcing candidates
- Scheduling and supporting interviews
- Coordinating onboarding and offboarding
- Maintaining personnel and contractor records
- Assisting with compensation administration
- Coordinating employee and contractor documentation
- Managing internal policies and operating procedures
- Helping establish performance-management processes
- Coordinating benefits, payroll, and HR vendors where applicable
- Supporting development of the firm’s culture and organizational structure
As Dark Alpha grows, the Operations Manager will help build the systems necessary to manage a larger organization.
Private Equity and Special Situations Support
Assist the investment team with operational aspects of acquisitions, investments, financings, and special situations.
Depending on the transaction, responsibilities may include:
- Managing diligence processes and data rooms
- Maintaining diligence and closing checklists
- Coordinating advisors, consultants, counterparties, and service providers
- Tracking transaction workstreams and deadlines
- Supporting portfolio company initiatives
- Assisting with post-acquisition integration and operational projects
- Supporting investor, lender, and business-development processes
- Coordinating research and special projects for investment professionals
This position is not expected to serve as the primary investment decision-maker, but the Operations Manager should become deeply familiar with how transactions move from opportunity through diligence, execution, closing, and post-closing value creation.
Proprietary Trading Operations
Support the operational development of Dark Alpha’s proprietary trading activities.
This may include coordinating projects involving:
- Trading infrastructure
- Brokerage relationships
- Market data
- Technology vendors
- Research systems
- Reporting
- Risk and operational processes
- Developers, quantitative researchers, and other technical personnel
Technical expertise in trading systems is not required, but an ability to manage technical projects and communicate effectively with developers and investment professionals is valuable.
Project Management and Special Projects
Dark Alpha frequently undertakes new initiatives that do not fit neatly within a traditional job description.
The Operations Manager will often be asked to take ownership of a project, determine what needs to happen, organize the appropriate people and resources, and drive the project toward completion.
Projects may involve investments, technology, AI, data, recruiting, new businesses, portfolio companies, vendors, financing, research, or internal firm infrastructure.
A willingness to learn unfamiliar subject matter quickly is essential.
Compensation Philosophy
Dark Alpha Capital has an entrepreneurial, success-oriented compensation model.
We do not view compensation solely through the traditional model of paying employees for hours worked or rewarding tenure. We want members of the firm to participate economically when the work of the team produces successful outcomes.
Accordingly, compensation for this position is expected to include a meaningful success-fee and performance-based component tied to the results of the firm, transactions, projects, and/or other defined objectives.
Depending on the individual’s responsibilities and the opportunity, success-based compensation may be associated with completed transactions, investment or portfolio-company initiatives, capital formation, business-development efforts, special projects, trading-related initiatives, or other measurable value created for Dark Alpha Capital.
The specific compensation arrangement, eligibility requirements, measurement periods, payment mechanics, and any fixed compensation will be established with the selected candidate and documented in the applicable employment or engagement agreement.
Candidates should understand that this is intentionally not designed as a conventional large-company position where compensation is disconnected from the economic results of the organization. We are looking for someone who is attracted to an environment where increasing responsibility, execution, and successful outcomes can create increasing economic opportunity.

Experience in operations, financial services, private equity, investment banking, asset management, professional services, consulting, startups, HR, project management, or a related environment is helpful but not necessarily required.

A successful Operations Manager will make the entire organization more effective.
Projects will move faster. Responsibilities will have clear owners. Recruiting and onboarding will become more systematic. Important deadlines will not disappear between teams. Leadership will spend less time managing routine operating issues. Investment professionals and technical personnel will be able to concentrate more of their time on their highest-value work.
Over time, we expect the person in this role to assume increasing responsibility for the operating infrastructure of Dark Alpha Capital and potentially grow into a more senior leadership role as the firm expands.

Pay: $67,365.13 - $81,127.90 per year
