Duties
- Provide overnight supervision and support to residents in a residential or care home setting
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Monitor residents’ vital signs and overall health status during your shift
- Follow safe patient lifting practices and manual handling procedures to ensure resident safety
- Administer medications as directed by healthcare professionals and document all medication activities accurately
- Respond promptly to residents’ needs or emergencies, including behavior management or medical concerns
- Maintain cleanliness of resident rooms and common areas, including light cleaning and meal preparation when needed
- Support residents’ emotional well-being through compassionate communication and engagement
- Document shift reports thoroughly to communicate important information to incoming staff
Skills
- Prior experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or long-term care environments is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, and geriatrics best practices
- Ability to assist with ADLs and provide personal care with sensitivity and respect
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or cognitive impairments
- Knowledge of vital signs measurement, medication administration, CPR, first aid, and safe patient lifting practices
- Excellent client communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with residents
- Physical stamina for heavy lifting and manual handling tasks required in caregiving roles
- Familiarity with group home settings or home & community care environments is a plus
- Ability to operate standard passenger cars safely when needed for resident outings or appointments
