The Job
The Printer Operator is responsible for overseeing, running and maintaining large format print jobs on our inkjet roll printers. Position include pre-flighting, printer maintenance, roll printer operation, monitoring print jobs in process and quality assurance.
The Requirements:
- At least 1 years experience using in Large Format printing or sign shop experience
- Strong skills in Adobe Creative Suites Specifically Illustrator and Photoshop
- Work well in a very fast paced, deadline-oriented environment with minimal supervision
- Experience with large roll inkjet printers using latex, solvent or UV inks
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Organizes and maintains electronic art file folders.
- Expert attention to detail
- Responsible for quality control of all incoming files
- Preparing jobs for printer and cutters including die lines and PDF proofs
- Focus on quality
- Ability to multi-task and work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Able to quickly identify problems and seek solutions
- Able to communicate effectively and work well with others in a team environment
- Must have flexible working hours and schedule including the willingness to work overtime if needed
The Responsibilities:
- Reviewing department work orders, managing workflow to ensure all orders are completed on time, and consistently meeting customers’ quality expectations while maximizing production efficiency
- Ripping files and planning print jobs to multiple roll printers and vinyl cutter.
- Completing daily maintenance on roll printers
- Custom design for fabrication of unique solutions
- Properly using and maintaining all department tools and equipment, maintaining equipment and coordinating maintenance and repair calls with vendors.
- Preparing large format signs, banners, and display graphics for shipping and delivery; creating custom packaging when necessary.
- Improving processes and workflows to maximize efficiency and controlling material costs
- Keeping your work area clean and tidy
The Qualifications:
- Experience with large format imaging – roll printing
- High degree of proficiency with Adobe Suites in a production environment.
- Experience printing on a large variety of substrates.
- Experience with RIP software and graphic workflows.
- Understanding of Onxy RIP software and color management a Plus
- Willingness to follow department policies and procedures and maintain a clean and safe work area.
