Role Summary:
The Purchasing Manager leads all purchasing and sourcing activities for the organization, including supplier selection, contract negotiation, inventory/materials planning, and supply chain risk mitigation. This role owns vendor performance management, oversees automated purchasing tasks, and drives measurable cost savings initiatives. The Purchasing Manager reports directly to the VP of Operations.

Exempt: Days, Monday - Friday
Areas of Accountability:
- Oversee and manage vendor relations to drive cost reduction efforts while ensuring high levels of quality, service, and on-time delivery – negotiate and evaluate vendor contracts.
- Research and purchase materials, supplies, and equipment needed for operations - analyze/research market trends to identify opportunities.
- Manage raw material and component inventory levels to balance carrying cost against production continuity — avoid both stockouts and excess/obsolete inventory.
- Develop and implement supply chain risk mitigation strategies.
- Oversee automated purchasing tasks, ensuring accuracy and quality of inputs and outputs, and intervening on exceptions as needed.
- Work cross-functionally to ensure that operations and departmental needs are met on an on-going basis.
- Monitor IQMS ERP and ensure it is up to date and accurate (pricing, inventory, lead times, etc.).
- Complete all required documentation and KPI reporting – ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and management system requirements.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and provide suggestions to improve procurement activities.
- Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years professional experience in purchasing, supply chain, operations, or related field.
- Strong decision-making skills – must be able to analyze data and make impactful decisions.
- Excellent negotiation skills – must be able to effectively manage vendors.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing across multiple departments.
- Demonstrated ability to learn and adopt new software and technology tools, including automation-supported workflows.
- Previous in-depth ERP experience – IQMS preferred – with a track record of maintaining data integrity and proactively identifying discrepancies or errors within the system.
- Familiar with applicable legal requirements and compliance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree in supply chain, operations, business or related field.
- Previous injection-molding and/or plastic experience.
- Experience in leading change management and continuous improvement is a plus.
