Health Aide (LPN or RN)
Rock Brook School in Montgomery Township, NJ, is currently seeking LPNs or RNs to serve as 1:1 health aides within a classroom setting providing both medical and general support. The health aide will serve as the primary advocate for the health and well being of students within a special needs classroom and, as needed, across the school. Responsibilities include general health care, screenings, first aid, and general care of those who are ill or injured while in the school. Positions are available immediately.
Requirements/Responsibilities/Essential Duties:
- Experience as an LPN or RN
- Current NJ license
- Current certifications in First Aid, CPR and AED.
- Criminal history background check, TB test and physical required.
- Compassionate and eager to work with students with special needs.
- Ability to undertake a variety of diverse care tasks and work in a multidisciplinary team.
- Understanding of confidentiality obligations and nursing best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Provide general health care to students.
- Assist students as needed in their daily personal tasks- e.g., mobility, toileting/changing, changing bandages or dressings, caring for skin, assisting with braces, G-Tube feeding.
- Administer first aid as needed and provide general care of those who are ill or injured while in school.
- Assist the certified school nurse with screenings.
