Job Title: Interventional Radiology Technologist
Location: Columbia, Missouri
Duration: 12 Weeks
Shift: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (Days), Monday–Friday
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Interventional Radiology Technologist to support minimally invasive, image-guided procedures in both routine and emergency settings. This role involves working closely with physicians and advanced practice providers to ensure safe, high-quality patient care while operating advanced imaging equipment and maintaining sterile environments.
Procedures supported include angiography, biopsies, tube placements, thrombolysis, injections, neuro-interventional cases, and GI embolization procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Patient & Procedure Support
- Prepare patients for interventional radiology procedures
- Explain procedures and provide pre- and post-procedure care
- Obtain patient history, including medications, implants, and allergies
- Monitor patient condition and vital signs as required
Imaging & Technical Duties
- Operate and adjust interventional imaging equipment
- Ensure high-quality diagnostic imaging
- Manage imaging data within PACS and EMR systems
- Maintain sterile field during procedures
- Follow radiation safety standards (ALARA principles)
Clinical & Safety Responsibilities
- Assist physicians during interventional procedures
- Administer contrast under radiologist supervision
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions
- Respond to emergency situations, including Basic Life Support
Supply & Documentation
- Manage procedural supplies and equipment
- Retrieve medications as directed
- Ensure all necessary resources are available during procedures
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation
Required Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of Interventional Radiology experience
- Hands-on experience with:
- Neuro Interventional Radiology cases
- GI embolization procedures
Certifications (Required)
- Must hold one of the following:
- ARRT Registered Technologist (R.T.(R))
- OR Advanced ARRT credentials:
- R.T.(VI)
- R.T.(CV)
- R.T.(CI)
- OR RCIS certification
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of sterile techniques and procedural workflows
- Ability to work in high-pressure and emergency environments
- Understanding of radiation safety practices (ALARA)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Proficiency in EMR and PACS systems
- Ability to respond effectively in critical situations
