Responsibilities
- Provide peer support and mentorship to individuals experiencing mental health conditions, substance use disorders, or co-occurring disorders
- Share personal recovery experiences to inspire hope and motivate clients toward positive change
- Assist clients in developing personalized recovery plans and connecting them with appropriate community resources
- Engage in crisis management and crisis intervention to ensure client safety during urgent situations
- Promote harm reduction strategies and behavioral health best practices tailored to each individual’s needs
- Maintain strict confidentiality of client information in accordance with privacy laws and organizational policies
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams using electronic health record (EHR) systems to document progress and coordinate care
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Peer Support Specialist from an accredited program
- Lived experience with mental health conditions or substance use recovery, demonstrating resilience and insight
- Strong skills in crisis management, crisis intervention, and behavioral health support
- Experience working with culturally diverse communities and understanding cultural sensitivities
- Knowledge of addiction counseling, harm reduction, and social work principles
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members while maintaining professionalism
- Commitment to client confidentiality and ethical standards in all interactions
