Duties
- Safely operate dump trucks with manual transmissions across various routes and terrains, ensuring timely delivery of materials such as gravel, dirt, or construction debris
- Load and unload freight efficiently using appropriate equipment like forklifts or roll-off trucks, adhering to safety protocols
- Maintain accurate logs of daily trips, loads, and inspections in compliance with federal and state regulations
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, including brakes, lights, tires, and fluid levels
- Follow designated routes diligently while adapting to changing conditions and traffic patterns to meet project deadlines
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and site managers regarding delivery schedules, load status, and any issues encountered during transit
- Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and general upkeep of trucks and equipment to ensure optimal performance
Requirements
- Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record; at least three years of professional truck driving experience required
- Proven experience operating manual transmission trucks in various environments including flatbed, tanker, refrigerated trailer, or freight hauling
- Familiarity with truck driving safety standards and regulations governing commercial vehicles
- Ability to load & unload freight manually or with equipment such as forklifts; experience with roll-off trucks is a plus
- Knowledge of route driving best practices for efficiency and safety across different terrains and weather conditions
- Strong physical stamina to handle long hours on the road and perform vehicle inspections or loading tasks as needed
- Additional certifications such as forklift operation or tanker endorsements are advantageous but not mandatory
