Position Summary: The Financial Analyst will perform effective analysis of financial and equipment utilization data specifically within our Facility Construction & Dirt Work Departments so the company can make information-based decisions to minimize financial loss and maximize profitability.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial Analysis:
- Identify, investigate and communicate trends (both good and bad) in financial performance.
- Consult and model implications on any new business, or adjustments in rates on existing business.
- Search for cost savings and/or efficiency gains.
- Actively assist corporate with any customer audits.
- Create and maintain crew builders with direct and indirect costs.
- Track costs on all awarded jobs and advise Business Unit Directors within the respective departments.
- Assist in negotiations on Rates with customer procurement.
Equipment Analysis:
- Review, inquire and act upon Weekly Equipment Utilization reports to 1) understand underutilized equipment for justification, to submit as MIA or to be assigned, and 2) understand equipment utilization that is not reported/billed and inform Business Unit Director.
- Work with Rental Equipment Manager to ensure rentals are billed consistently at the correct rates.
- Analyze equipment needs to inform rent-or-buy decisions and internal re-allocation of underutilized equipment.
- Provide Daily POC Snapshots to Project Managers to assist in consistent cost to completion tracking.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Financial Director and Vice President of Finance.
Other Duties:
- Assist in reconciliation of A/R disputes.
- Deep research which may include such things as change-orders on Bid Jobs, margin analysis by crew, etc.
- Compute daily truck costs and other hidden overhead.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Company.
Education and Professional Licensing or Certifications:
- Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Highly organized
- Detail oriented
- Experience performing data analytics
- Experience compiling data and creating financial statements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Able to manage multiple tasks while maintaining high response communication with internal and external customers.
- Must have experience working with ERP systems.
- Prefer experience working with Viewpoint ERP system.
- Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new ERPs or other financial/accounting software.
- Ability to manage people and reprioritize daily tasks.
Physical Requirements
- Most duties are performed in an office environment from a seated position.
- Frequent speaking and listening communications with multiple parties.
- Able to use a personal computer with manual dexterity to operate a keyboard.
