Duties
- Deliver comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed medical histories to inform personalized care plans.
- Administer medications and injections with precision, including IV infusions, immunizations, and controlled substances following HIPAA regulations.
- Perform specialized procedures such as suturing, catheterization, ostomy care, tube feeding, and sterile processing while maintaining aseptic techniques.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on complex cases involving trauma medicine, ICU patients, or post-acute care needs in settings like Level I Trauma Centers or Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU).
- Manage patient documentation accurately using EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner; ensure compliance with ICD-10/ICD-9 coding standards for billing and record-keeping.
- Conduct patient education on health coaching topics such as chronic disease management, medication administration, or nutrition.
- Assist in triage assessments in urgent care or emergency room environments; respond swiftly to acute pain management scenarios or infectious disease outbreaks.
- Support patients with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs in memory or behavioral health units; provide compassionate end-of-life care in hospice & palliative medicine settings.
Qualifications
- Valid RN license in good standing with current state requirements.
- Proven experience in diverse clinical environments including hospital medicine, medical-surgical units, outpatient clinics, or long-term care facilities.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth; familiarity with medical documentation standards.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology essential for accurate patient assessment and diagnostic evaluation.
- Experience performing procedures like IV insertion, phlebotomy, venipuncture, suturing, and catheter care.
- Critical care experience preferred—especially ICU or Level II/Level I trauma center backgrounds—along with familiarity working in emergency medicine or urgent care settings.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals of all ages including pediatrics (neonatal ventilator), geriatrics (memory & dementia care), and patients with disabilities or complex chronic conditions.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and OSHA standards; experience managing infectious disease cases is a plus.
