Classroom Team Leader

Immediate openings are available for Classroom Team Leaders within our Early Education and Care Department at our Chicopee and Holyoke sites. Classroom Team Leaders provide training and leadership to classroom staff in cooperation with the Center Director. Sites are NAEYC accredited. General Description: Work cooperatively with Supervisors in teaching, program planning and general operation of the classroom. Provide training and leadership to classroom staff in cooperation with the Center Director.
Specific Essential Duties:
- Care and protection of all children at the center. Report any changes in any child’s physical or emotional condition to the Center Director.
- Complete and maintain all paperwork for the classroom required to meet EEC regulations and program policies.
- Develop classroom curriculum, using Creative Curriculum and ensure daily implementation.
- Ensure completion of ECERS/ITERS/SACERS in classroom.
- Complete regular child assessments(ASQ) and progress reports(TS GOLD)
- Coordinate supports and services for special needs/behavioral needs.
- Work with Center Director to make child referrals, as needed.
- Monitor classroom furnishings, materials and educational equipment and submit requests to Center Director for replacement or needs.
- Ensure classroom environment is in compliance with NAEYC requirements
- Oversee daily program functions in the classroom
- Maintain an attractive, sanitary and positive child care environment that ensures compliance with EEC regulations, NAEYC standards, and program policies.
- Monitor educator compliance with training requirements. Attend any and all workshops or training sessions mandated by VOC as well as those required by EEC.
- Participate in weekly planning meetings with classroom teachers.
- Participate in regular meetings with other Classroom Team Leaders.
- Provide meaningful family involvement experiences on a regular basis.
- Administer medication to children as prescribed by a physician and in compliance with EEC regulations and VOC Plan for Administration of Medication.
- Willingness to lift children and classroom equipment in an appropriate manner as needed.
- Keep Center Director regularly appraised of all issues and incidents concerning staff, parents and children.
- Provide documentation of successful completion of First Aid, CPR and bi-annual physical, as required by EEC regulations and VOC policies.
- May be required to perform Classroom Lead Teacher role in another classroom or at another center if deemed necessary for program improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Center Director.
General Requirements:
- Must have EEC Lead Teacher Qualifications which includes one of the following:
- 36 months’ experience & 12 credits in the Category of Study
OR
- 27 months’ experience & Associate’s Degree or higher in unrelated field
OR
- 18 months’ experience & CDA
OR
- 9 months’ experience & Associate degree or higher in related field
- Must have degree or be enrolled in a degree program during both fall and spring semesters until degree is achieved (summer coursework is optional). Must submit proof at the beginning of each semester of enrollment and submit proof of successful completion at the end of each semester in order to maintain position.

If the employee wishes to contribute through employee deductions, he/she may contribute a minimum of 2% of their pay and the agency will add another 1%. Employees are also eligible to start the plan and contribute through payroll deductions after 30 days on the job.
