Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses, and 15 passenger vans according to traffic laws and transportation safety regulations.
- Ensure the safety of all passengers by following established child behavior management and student discipline policies.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to verify vehicle mechanical condition, including checking brakes, lights, signals, and emergency equipment.
- Respond quickly to traffic changes and emergency situations by executing emergency stop procedures and emergency response protocols for transportation incidents.
- Maintain clear communication with school staff using effective verbal skills in English or multilingual capabilities.
- Follow all vehicle codes, school policies, and state and local commercial driving laws while maintaining a professional demeanor at all times.
- Qualifications
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a school bus endorsement; experience in school bus driving preferred.
- Proven knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations applicable to school bus operation.
- Mechanical knowledge for vehicle inspections and basic troubleshooting is advantageous.
