Position Summary
We are seeking an energetic and dedicated Lead Preschool Teacher to lead a classroom with passion and expertise in our unique, Reggio Emilia-inspired, STEM+Art-based early childhood education program. In this pivotal role, you will oversee classroom activities and foster a nurturing environment that promotes the holistic growth of young children.
In collaboration with the Director, you will design and facilitate an intentional, play-based learning environment thoughtfully set up with subject-matter provocations—inviting children to explore big ideas, literacy, STEM concepts, and a variety of artistic expressions through hands-on investigation. You’ll step into the role of co-learner and researcher alongside the children, nurturing curiosity, creativity, and collaborative projects while thoughtfully documenting their learning journeys.

Responsibilities
- Lead classroom management for children, creating a positive and understandable learning environment that encourages curiosity, collaboration and independence
- Plan and implement emergent, play-based, and open ended curriculum inspired by children’s interests
- Ensure curriculum is comprehensive, incorporating literacy, the different branches of science, math, basic engineering concepts, imagination and creativity, art in many forms, social-emotional growth, physical health, large/small motor skills, collaboration skills and confidence
- Observe children’s play daily/often to notice where STEM and art topics can be broadened, deepened and group project work can apply and commence
- Collaborate closely with director and teaching team about students, curriculum planning and reflection
- Observe, document, and reflect on children’s learning through photos, notes, journals and displays
- Support and grow children’s behavior and social-emotional development through respectful, responsive guidance - helping all children to understand their own and other’s emotions and needs, and healthy, positive ways to express and manage them
- Ensure total compliance with all licensing safety regulations, child welfare policies, and all other licensing requirements related to early childhood care safety and operations
- Oversee lesson planning and daily activities aligned with early childhood development state standards and educational best practices
- Supervise and mentor assistant or co-teacher, providing guidance on classroom experience, childcare techniques, and curriculum development to ensure high-quality instruction
- Collaborate with parents and guardians to communicate progress, address concerns, and support each child's welfare through regular updates and meetings
Experience
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (or equivalent units as required by licensing)
- Valid teaching permits and other certifications as required
- A deep respect, understanding, and love for early childhood
- 5+ years’ experience in play-based, inquiry-driven early childhood settings
- Experience or study in Reggio Emilia a huge plus
- Interest, aptitude and/or experience in age-appropriate STEM, physics exploration, and the arts in various forms
- Reflective, collaborative, and enthusiastic teaching approach

Pay: $24.00 - $40.00 per hour
