Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Industrial Concrete Estimator to join our team. Duties
- Review construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to interpret project scope and requirements.
- Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, and other construction management tools to prepare precise cost estimates.
- Estimate material quantities and costs by analyzing blueprints and technical drawings, ensuring accuracy in material requirements from blueprints.
- Manage project budgets by developing detailed estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
- Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards.
- Collaborate with project managers to develop project timelines, cost controls, and risk assessments for concrete installation projects.
- Prepare detailed spreadsheets and reports for cost management, bid proposals, and project documentation.
- Review construction drawings for potential issues or discrepancies that could impact costs or scheduling.
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding project scope, pricing strategies, and potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Monitor ongoing projects to ensure adherence to budget estimates and identify areas for cost optimization.
Qualifications
- 6 + years experience
- Proven experience managing projects as a construction estimator within the concrete or heavy civil industry.
- Strong proficiency in estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, Xactimate, and other construction management tools.
- Extensive knowledge of blueprint reading, interpreting technical drawings, and estimating material requirements from blueprints.
- Familiarity with construction industry standards related to concrete installation and commercial construction projects.
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
- Solid understanding of cost management principles including material cost estimating, cost control, and budgeting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel spreadsheets for data analysis and reporting.
- Construction site experience coupled with project management skills enhances estimation accuracy and project execution.
- Strong communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration.
