Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Part-Time Food Service Worker (Receiving) to join our team on Tuesdays and Thursdays. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the efficient receipt, handling, and storage of food supplies, supporting our dietary department’s commitment to providing nutritious meals. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with food industry or healthcare experience to contribute to a caring environment that prioritizes safety, sanitation, and quality service.
Duties
- Receive and inspect incoming food deliveries, verifying quantities and quality in accordance with dietary requirements and safety standards
- Properly handle and store food items following safe lifting practices and sanitation protocols
- Assist with the organization and inventory of food supplies within storage areas
- Ensure all food handling complies with food safety regulations, including proper sanitation and cleaning of receiving areas
- Support meal preparation activities by delivering ingredients to kitchen staff as needed
- Maintain accurate documentation of received shipments, including logs for inventory control
- Adhere to workplace safety policies, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and manual handling procedures
Skills
- Previous experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or food industry settings preferred
- Knowledge of food production, handling, and sanitation standards such as JCAHO or other relevant agencies
- Strong time management skills to efficiently coordinate receiving tasks within scheduled hours
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and effectively during food handling processes
- Familiarity with dietary requirements and working with geriatric or vulnerable populations is a plus
- Excellent customer service skills when interacting with staff and vendors
- Basic math skills for inventory counting and documentation purposes
- Commitment to workplace safety practices, including proper lifting techniques and PPE use
- Experience in food service or dietary aide roles highly desirable
