Step's Foundation, Inc. is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Peer Educator Interns to join our team. This unpaid hybrid internship provides the opportunity to work directly with middle and high school students while gaining valuable experience in youth development, education, behavioral health, nonprofit programming, and community engagement.
As a Peer Educator Intern, you'll help facilitate engaging workshops, mentor students, and support the coordination of educational programs that prepare youth for success both inside and outside the classroom. Our programs focus on mental health and wellness, health education, career exploration, financial literacy, independent living skills, leadership development, communication, conflict resolution, and other essential life skills that empower youth to thrive.

Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate engaging workshops and educational sessions for middle and high school students.
- Lead peer discussions on topics including mental health, health and wellness, communication, leadership, financial literacy, career readiness, and life skills.
- Build positive relationships with students by serving as a mentor and positive role model.
- Support the planning, coordination, and implementation of educational programs, support groups, and youth activities.
- Assist with scheduling, preparing materials, and organizing program logistics.
- Participate in school-based programming and community outreach events throughout the Kissimmee area.
- Collaborate with staff, schools, and community partners to deliver high-quality programming.
- Track attendance, participation, and program outcomes to support reporting and continuous improvement.
- Contribute ideas to enhance curriculum, student engagement, and overall program effectiveness.
Ideal Candidates
- Are currently enrolled in Psychology, Social Work, Education, Counseling, Behavioral Health, Human Services, Public Health, or a related degree program.
- Have a genuine passion for youth development, education, and community service.
- Enjoy mentoring, teaching, coaching, or working with adolescents.
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Are organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple responsibilities.
- Work well independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Are comfortable facilitating or assisting with group discussions and activities.
- Can commit to attending programs at our partnered school in Kissimmee as well as community-based events.
- Previous experience mentoring, tutoring, youth leadership, or facilitating groups is a plus—but not required.
