Job Summary:
Installs and repairs lighted, monument/pylon, directional and under canopy signs by performing the following duties
Supervisor Responsibilities: N/A
Job Duties & Responsibilities include the following.
· Receives from lighted Install/Service coordinator installation order, drawing, map, directions to site, customer contact, phone number and building/footing/sign/electrical/zoning permit (if required)
· Reviews installation specifications, permits and directions to site; schedules inspections if required.
· Discusses site location and construction requirements with sales reps.
· Gather and packs installation materials and supplies as required; pad-wrap sign components if necessary; load on truck for transport and delivery.
· Travels to installation site, noting travel time on installation order.
· For new monument signs, measure distance from staked location or plot plan to identify exact site location. For existing structures, confirms site location; using ladder or crane truck, measure storefront fascia, monument/pylon panel, under canopy area and/or directional panel face to determine designated sign positions.
· Digs hole for footing to support monument/sign base if required, using hand augur, augur truck or subcontracted backhoe.
· Installs rebar reinforcement prior to installation of concrete for footing.
· Inserts structural steel or monument mounting bolts in wet concrete. Once dried attach monument/sign base to footing, and assemble and structural components to base, welding steel as required.
· Climbs ladder or utilize crane truck to install sign when area is inaccessible from ground.
· Cleans sign face if required.
· Repairs, repaints, or replaces defective parts as required.
· Installs acrylic pan formed and cabinet storefront signs with illumination, making final connections and welding steel as required.
· Installs illuminated raceway mounted or wall mounted acrylic faced channel letter signs with transformers, welding steel and making final connections to existing electrical circuits and timing devices as required; performs sensitive fascia drill in as required.
· For sign replacement jobs, removes and property disposes of existing signage; patches and paints storefront prior to installing new signage.
· Disposes of installation and other debris, leaving site cleaner than when crew arrived.
Checks signs for illumination, secures customer approval sign off; takes digital completion photos; logs installation time on installation order.
· Picks up permits from permitting jurisdictions; posts at jobsite.
· Cleans and maintains installation equipment and vehicles.
· Stocks trucks with installation supplies.
· Services and repairs existing signs.
· Maintains CDL license and accurate driver’s log.
· Performs site surveys of existing signs.
Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· CDL required for this position
· Crane operator
· Welding
· Ability to operate a Jackhammer
· Use a cutting torch
· Mathematical skills in reading a tape measure
· Computer skills
Education & Experience:
· High School Diploma/GED required for this position
· Operate a lift
· Experience in construction
· Electrical – wiring experience
3 to 5 years’ experience in a related field.
75 % travel may be required.
