OVERVIEW
Position Summary
This position aims to increase employee wellness, recreational knowledge, and participation to improve overall health and wellness, including stimulating physical and emotional growth and enhancing employee satisfaction and retention through the benefits of teamwork, positive socialization, good sportsmanship, and healthy relationships. May include working with youth to enhance overall wellness.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise
Supervise daily recreational activities and participate with staff & youth whenever possible. Supervise outdoor activities/trips such as camping, hiking, biking, and canoeing. Supervise and coach intramural activities and team sports. Supervise on and off campus groups that utilize the Recreation Center.
Assist
Will assist in any maintenance needs of the building. Assist in maintaining surrounding areas associated with this department: softball, soccer fields, sand volleyball and playground area, along with barn/horse areas also possible. Assist in maintaining outdoor equipment and bikes. Assist with the planning and implementation of outdoor programming, special events and rental opportunities.
Performance
Participate in Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) goals of the organization, both individually and as a team member. Participate and engage in monthly supervision/coaching meetings with the supervisor. Participate in required training as appropriate to the position and beneficial to YBGR.
Support
Engage staff in a variety of activities to enhance employee wellness, retention, and a positive work environment. Be aware of the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the persons served. Deal constructively and helpfully with all other members of the organization. Be a professional representative of the organization to those outside it. Fully support and model the mission and values of YBGR.
Compliance
Adhere to all policies, systems, safety requirements, and procedures of the organization.

Qualifications
21 years old or older. Criminal / Child Abuse Clearance: Must pass criminal record and child abuse registry background check as required by the State of Montana. Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation or Physical Education or related field. Minimum 5 (five) years’ experience in recreation, including outdoor activities, traditional sports and water activities.
Skills
Perform light maintenance and occasional cleaning of recreation facilities. Demonstrate being self-motivated, self-disciplined, and diligent with forward thinking. Ability to think of their team over self and define success collectively rather than individually. The ability to effectively interact and communicate with others. These skills are essential for building and maintaining relationships, collaborating with colleagues, resolving conflicts, and navigating various social situations.
Certification
Must obtain lifeguard certification within first 3 months and maintain certification. Willingness and ability to obtain certification in First Aid/CPR and Violence Intervention Prevention.

Physical Requirements
Perform tasks requiring physical strengths and/or stamina to include: Hiking, camping, hiking, biking, and canoeing and other outdoor activities. Lifeguard duties to effectively rescue victims, administer first aid, and CPR. Perform light maintenance and occasional cleaning of recreation facilities.
