Applicants must be available to cover after-school programming from 2p-6p Monday thru Friday (days may vary each week). The Teen Leaders of America (TLA) after-school mentoring program will help to empower youth to make positive life choices that enable them to maximize their potential. Core components of the program will include: college/career readiness, leadership/socio-emotional development, technology and math; also offering social enrichment and community service projects. This TLA program will serve students on-site at IDEA Compass Charter School. By joining our village of adults and community members who care about youth, this position can help youth develop and reach positive academic, career, and personal goals.
Role
- Create and implement leadership, college/career exposure after-school program activities for middle school students
- Act as the liaison between IDEA, program funders and Teen Leaders of America as needed
- Work to recruit and retain IDEA students into the TLA after-school program
- Coordinate with vendors to manage all educational and social enrichment (math, culinary, fashion, sewing, etc.)
- Assist Site Manager in meeting Units of Service (UOS) data requirements (on-site daily)
- Serve as a positive role model for students
Time Commitment
- Up to 25 hours per week after-school (up to 80 hrs/month)
- Attend trainings and program recognition events as applicable
Participation Requirements
- Energetic and have a passion for youth
- Willing to adhere to all program policies and procedures
- Dependable and consistent in meeting the time commitments
- Willing to communicate regularly with program staff, submit activity reports and take constructive feedback
- Have access to an automobile, auto insurance, and a good driving record
