Responsibilities
- Perform grooming services including bathing, brushing, trimming, clipping, and styling according to breed standards and customer preferences
- Handle dogs with care using proper animal restraint techniques to ensure safety for pets and staff. Must be able to handle large dogs and lift 50 pounds.
- Assess each dog’s health condition before grooming; identify any signs of illness or discomfort and communicate with pet owners or veterinary professionals as needed
- Maintain a clean and sanitized grooming area, tools, and equipment to uphold hygiene standards
- Provide exceptional customer service by listening to pet owner requests, offering grooming advice, and ensuring a positive experience
- Manage pet handling with patience and professionalism, especially when working with anxious or difficult dogs
- Assist with pet care tasks such as feeding or basic veterinary-related activities if required, demonstrating a well-rounded animal handling skill set
Skills
- Proven experience in pet grooming with a strong understanding of breed-specific cuts and styles
- Knowledge of dog training techniques to manage various temperaments during grooming sessions
- Veterinary technician or veterinary assistant experience is highly desirable for assessing health issues during grooming
- Skilled in animal handling, restraint, and pet care to ensure safety and comfort at all times
- Familiarity with kennel operations, pet sitting, or heavy lifting related to animal care tasks
- Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with pet owners and address their needs confidently
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
