Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Software Verification Engineer to join our innovative technology team in Cedar Rapids, IA. This pivotal role involves designing, developing, and executing comprehensive testing strategies for software applications that utilize C/C++ programming, OpenGL graphics, and various system interfaces. The ideal candidate will play a crucial part in ensuring the quality, performance, and reliability of our cutting-edge software solutions. You will collaborate closely with development teams to identify issues early, streamline testing processes, and contribute to delivering robust products that meet rigorous standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed test plans, test cases, and automation scripts to validate software functionalities across multiple platforms - DO178 (MUST Have).
- Execute manual and automated tests for system components, including graphics rendering with OpenGL and embedded systems.
- Perform integration testing of APIs, RESTful services, and hardware interfaces to ensure seamless communication between components.
- Conduct performance testing using tools such as LoadRunner or similar frameworks to evaluate system stability under various conditions.
- Analyze test results to identify root causes of defects; document issues clearly using defect tracking tools like JIRA or HP ALM.
- Collaborate with developers during the SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) to ensure quality standards are met at each stage.
- Support user acceptance testing (UAT) by preparing test environments and assisting end-users in verifying functionalities.
- Implement continuous integration (CI/CD) pipelines to automate testing procedures, improve efficiency, and reduce release cycles.
- Participate in requirements gathering sessions to understand project scope and translate them into effective test strategies.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of test procedures, results, and defect reports for audit trails and process improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; advanced certifications are a plus.
- Proven experience in software verification or quality assurance within IT environments involving embedded systems or graphics applications.
- Strong proficiency in C/C++, with practical experience using OpenGL for graphics development.
- DO178 (MUST Have)
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python or JavaScript for test automation purposes.
- Knowledge of testing frameworks including TestNG, JUnit, Cucumber, or similar tools.
- Experience with version control systems like Git or SVN; familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab is preferred.
- Understanding of RESTful APIs, web services (SOAP), and database management using MySQL or Microsoft SQL Server.
- Ability to perform root cause analysis and debugging across complex software stacks.
- Excellent analytical skills combined with attention to detail; capable of analyzing large datasets for performance metrics.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience working within Scrum or Kanban teams.
- Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
