Maintenance Technician
Blockhouse Company, Inc is a leading manufacturer of commercial furniture catering to Behavioral Health, Hospitals, Higher Education, and Government facilities. Our 250,000 square foot facility contains offices, warehousing, loading docks, and of course large manufacturing spaces to mill, build, upholster, and finish our furniture products.
The Maintenance position is responsible for a wide variety of tasks including building maintenance, pneumatic, electrical, mechanical, and electronic preventative maintenance, repair, and trouble shooting. We employ woodworking equipment with CNC/PLC controls, and an assortment of mechanical mechanisms. The Maintenance Technician must be able to prioritize work and not be rattled by multiple requests from plant personnel.
We demand our employees work with great attention to Safety and would expect this person to understand how to work according to OSHA safety guidelines including Lock Out/Tag Out, ladder safety, fall protection, chemical safety and other relevant standards.
Physical Demands:
Sitting, walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting up to 100 pounds, and good manual dexterity for working on small machinery and electronic parts.
Skills:
- Building Maintenance including lights, electrical, plumbing, some HVAC and various other tasks as needed. Able to work at heights.
- Equipment Maintenance including hand tools, preventative maintenance on machinery, some material handling equipment repair, electric motors, finish room equipment, pneumatic tools.
- Basic electrical wiring for building and equipment.
- Ability to read and understand electrical, mechanical, and electronic blue prints and schematics used to diagnose and repair issues.
- Industrial sewing machine maintenance and repair is a plus.
- Knowledge of circuitry, machine controls, relays, CNC/PLC systems is critical.
- Ability to research and cross-reference parts and repair ideas
