Modesto, is seeking a YOUTH MINISTRY COORDINATOR to direct the church’s ministry to middle school and high school youth.
The position involves working with the pastor and an advisory team to plan and implement ministry opportunities for students in grades 7 through 12 to grow in knowing and applying God’s Word, developing and deepening a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and experiencing Christ-centered fellowship with other youth.
We are looking for a dedicated follower of Jesus Christ who has exceptional interpersonal skills and proven experience working with youth in a church or other faith-based organization.
The position is part-time, 20 hours per week, and involves leading programs, events and activities on Sunday mornings and one evening a week. Pay is based on experience.

Full Job Description:
The Youth Ministry Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading the church’s ministry to middle school and high school youth.
The position is responsible for working closely with the Student Ministry Team in developing effective opportunities and programs that support Centenary’s mission and vision.
The goal is for the 7 through 12 grade students to grow in their knowledge and commitment to Jesus Christ through worship, discipleship/study, fellowship, and service.
Key to carrying out the responsibilities of the position are:
- Developing a solid working relationship with the Student Ministry Team, drawing on their experience and guidance.
- Building relationships with youth and parents alike.
- Effectively engaging and using adult volunteers as appropriate.
- Working collaboratively with the church ministry staff.
- Using appropriate technology in all areas of the ministry.
MINISTRY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Plan, organize and lead programs, events and activities on Sundays and one evening a week, along with monthly or quarterly special events that provide energetic and engaging opportunities for youth to experience:
Worship
- In all its forms, from music to prayer, and that is meaningful and participatory.
- Encourage and incorporate youth into church worship services, as participants or attendees.
Discipleship/Study
- Select youth curriculum in collaboration with the Student Ministry Team that is Biblically solid, and is relevant to youth in today’s culture.
- Separate small group opportunities for boys and girls.
- Mentoring of youth.
Fellowship
- Regular recreational and social activities and special events that facilitate building meaningful, positive friendships with other Christian young people.
Service
- Encourage and provide volunteer opportunities for youth to serve in the church, as well as in neighborhood/community outreach and domestic and foreign missions.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with the youth.
- Connect with each youth during regular on-campus activities, paying special attention to those on the periphery or seeming to be struggling.
- Build connections with parents.
- Communicate regularly via e-newsletter, social media, church app, etc.
- Plan quarterly parents meeting.
- Communicate directly with parents if you have concerns about a youth.
- Clearly and consistently communicate information about Youth Ministry.
- Attend Student Ministry Team meetings; attend staff-related meetings as schedule permits.
- Prepare and deliver information to the Ministry Coordinator to be disseminated by Facebook and other social media, emails and other means.
OTHER AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
The Youth Ministry Coordinator, working with the Student Ministry Team, is expected to:
Policies and Procedures
- Understand and comply with Centenary’s policies and procedures as detailed in the Employee Handbook and other documents.
- Understand and comply with Centenary’s Child Protection Policy.
Finances
- Operate within the budget, approved each year.
- Furnish required and requested financial reports, documentations, etc. accurately and on time.
Facilities
- Treat the church buildings and grounds with respect; ensure that youth rooms, furnishings and equipment are used and maintained properly.
- Give facility and equipment requests to the Ministry Coordinator, to be forwarded to the appropriate committee or individual staffer.
- Make sure all doors and windows are locked after meetings end.
HOURS AND PAY
This position is a part-time, hourly position; it requires keeping a daily record of hours worked and submitting accurate and complete timecards on time.
This position requires work on Sundays, weekday evenings and for special events.
ACCOUNTABILITY
The position:
- Reports to the Senior Pastor, and by extension the Staff Parish Relations Committee and the Administrative Council.
- Works closely with the Student Ministry Team.
- Has administrative accountability to the Ministry Coordinator.
- Does not supervise staff employees, but does direct volunteers.

- Exceptional interpersonal relational skills, including ability to develop solid relationships with young people and adults alike.
- Solid planning and organizing skills, the ability to juggle multiple tasks, set priorities, respond to changing situations and needs, etc.
- Understand the need to continually evaluate ministry goals and objectives, and embrace and implement change as needed.
- Solid knowledge and command of today’s technology, and ability to effectively use it in all aspects of ministry.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Called by God into ministry.
- Experience in youth ministry leadership.
