We are seeking a talented Software Developer to join a dynamic team developing advanced data collection and surveillance solutions that support the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In this role, you will participate in the full software development lifecycle—from requirements gathering and design through development, testing, deployment, and production support.
The ideal candidate is passionate about developing scalable, enterprise-level web applications using Java technologies and enjoys working in a collaborative Agile environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain enterprise web applications using Java/JEE technologies.
- Develop responsive web applications using JavaScript, JSP, JSTL, Bootstrap, jQuery, HTML5, JSON, and Spring Framework.
- Build and consume RESTful and SOAP web services.
- Develop and optimize SQL Server database objects, including stored procedures, views, and scripts.
- Utilize Git repositories and GitHub Actions for source control, collaboration, and deployment automation.
- Apply object-oriented design principles and industry-standard design patterns.
- Develop applications using AJAX and modern JavaScript libraries.
- Ensure applications comply with Section 508 accessibility standards.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, system requirements, and software specifications.
- Design reports and data visualizations using BIRT, Apache Velocity Templates, and Power BI.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions that meet CDC and HHS standards.
- Participate in code reviews, estimation, testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Target Salary Range: $66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
