Job Overview
Our vacation rental company is looking for a new Director of Maintenance! The Director of Maintenance is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of all BSG-managed properties, ensuring they remain safe, fully operational, and guest-ready. This role requires strong leadership, hands-on maintenance skills, and the ability to manage vendor relationships while maintaining open communication with owners and internal team members. The ideal candidate is a skilled handyman and solutions-driven professional who can close the loop on every maintenance task with attention to quality and timeliness.
Duties
- Perform hands-on maintenance tasks, including basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC troubleshooting, and general property upkeep.
- Ability to drive to all rental locations: Staunton, Waynesboro, Charlottesville, Nelson County, and Wintergreen.
- Coordinate, schedule, and manage third-party contractors for repairs and maintenance across multiple properties.
- Ensure all contractor work is completed to standard and on time through proactive follow-up and confirmation.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify and address maintenance needs before they become larger issues.
- Communicate professionally with property owners about maintenance projects, updates, or required approvals.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance requests, completed work, expenses, and vendor contacts.
- Work closely with the operations and housekeeping teams to ensure a seamless guest experience.
- Manage maintenance supply inventory and ensure equipment and tools are organized and operational.
Skills
- Proven handyman experience in property maintenance, facilities management, or a similar role (hospitality or short-term rental experience is a plus).
- Excellent organizational and professional communication skills.
- Strong ability to manage multiple vendors and maintenance priorities simultaneously.
- Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems, appliances, and general repair work.
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of responsibilities.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to respond to urgent issues as needed, including some after-hours availability.
- Ability to use smartphone and computer regularly to access and document in our maintenance system.
Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
