American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Progressive Care/Intermediate Care unit requiring NY licensure and at least 1 year of telemetry experience.

Hospital-based Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with a Trauma Level 2 designation
-
341-bed facility caring for adult patients with acute cardiac and telemetry needs
-
Patient population includes Acute Coronary Syndrome, heart failure, post PTCA/stent, BiPAP/CPAP with compromised gas exchange, ETOH withdrawal, and other high-acuity cardiac diagnoses

Nurse to patient ratio of 3:1

Support staff includes 3 CNA/PCTs per shift and a telemetry tech

12-hour night shift schedule (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), 36 hours per week
-
Weekend requirement, usually every other weekend
-
Holiday coverage required if needed
-
Floating required, with priority given to appropriate units as part of the Resource Float team

No on-call requirements
-
Uses Epic for documentation and MAK for medication administration

Active NY RN license required
-
AHA BLS and AHA ACLS certifications required
-
NIHSS certification required prior to start

Minimum of 1 year of telemetry experience required

Epic experience within the past 2 years required
-
Experience with insulin drips, cardiac drips, IV starts, and post cardiac cath care required
-
Reliable personal transportation required as public transportation is not accessible in the area

Provide progressive/intermediate cardiac care nursing to adult patients with complex cardiac and monitoring needs
-
Participate in the facility's Resource Float team as needed

1-2 days of orientation provided

Dress code includes navy blue or white scrubs, closed-toe nonskid shoes, minimal jewelry, professional groomed hair with no beards, and no artificial nail polish

Vehicles should be equipped with all-season or snow tires during November through April due to regional weather conditions
