We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Biller/Receptionist to join our healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, answer phone calls promptly, and schedule appointments efficiently to foster a positive patient experience.
- Collect patient information, verify insurance coverage, and update medical records accurately within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) or EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems.
- Process medical billing claims using billing software, ensuring correct application of CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) codes for accurate reimbursement.
- Manage accounts receivable by following up on unpaid claims, submitting medical collections when necessary, and resolving billing discrepancies with insurance companies and patients.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of medical records, coding details, and billing transactions to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure proper coding of procedures and diagnoses, including ICD coding updates and CPT coding standards.
- Stay current on health insurance policies, healthcare claims management practices, and updates in medical coding standards to optimize revenue cycle processes.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a medical office setting with strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and customer service skills.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems, billing software, and Microsoft Office applications for data entry and report generation.
- Solid understanding of healthcare claims management processes including ICD (International Classification of Diseases), CPT coding and health insurance procedures.
- Knowledge of medical billing practices such as claim submission, follow-up procedures, payment posting, and collections.
- Ability to interpret complex medical codes (ICD-9/10), accurately document procedures using CPT codes, and understand ICD coding updates.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in billing and recordkeeping.
- Strong communication skills to interact professionally with patients, providers, insurance representatives, and team members.
