Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Certified Sterile Processing Technician to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient sterilization, decontamination, and preparation of medical instruments and equipment used in surgical procedures and patient care. Duties
- Perform thorough decontamination, cleaning, inspection, and sterilization of surgical instruments, endoscopes, and medical equipment using established aseptic techniques.
- Assemble, package, and label sterile instruments and supplies according to strict sterilization protocols.
- Manage inventory levels of sterile supplies and medical instruments, ensuring proper storage and timely replenishment to prevent shortages.
- Conduct routine quality checks on sterilized equipment to verify proper functioning and adherence to infection control standards.
- Reprocess complex medical devices such as endoscopes following manufacturer guidelines, ensuring thorough reprocessing for safe reuse.
- Maintain detailed documentation of sterilization cycles, equipment maintenance, and inventory records for compliance audits.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure all sterile processing activities meet healthcare infection prevention and control requirements.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of sterile processing procedures including medical instrument assembly, packaging, and sterilization techniques.
- Strong understanding of anatomy and physiology to accurately handle specialized surgical instruments.
- Proficiency in medical terminology related to surgical procedures and medical equipment operation.
- Expertise in infection prevention management, including aseptic technique and infection control practices.
- Ability to operate sterilizers, ultrasonic cleaners, endoscope reprocessors, and other specialized medical equipment safely.
- Excellent inventory management skills to track supplies, reorder stock as needed, and maintain organized storage areas.
- Familiarity with healthcare infection prevention protocols, surgical instrument handling standards, and regulatory compliance requirements.
