Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) for day shifts to join our vibrant surgical team. In this vital role, you will provide expert nursing care before, during, and after surgical procedures in a fast-paced, high-tech environment. Duties
- Prepare operating rooms by ensuring all sterile equipment and supplies are ready for scheduled procedures
- Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists during surgeries, maintaining strict aseptic technique throughout all procedures
- Monitor patient vital signs, anesthesia levels, and overall condition during surgery using advanced EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner
- Administer medications including IV infusions, pain management agents, and botulinum toxin treatments as prescribed
- Document all nursing interventions accurately in medical records while adhering to HIPAA regulations
- Support patient assessment through physical examinations and physiological knowledge to identify any intraoperative issues promptly
- Manage post-operative recovery by monitoring patients’ vital signs, providing pain management, and ensuring safe transfer to recovery areas or long-term care facilities
Skills
- Proven experience working in an operating room environment with OR experience essential
- Strong knowledge of aseptic technique, sterile processing, and infection control protocols
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation
- Expertise in handling complex surgical procedures including cardiac catheterization, spinal tap, tube feeding, and trauma medicine
- Skilled in IV insertion, catheter care, suturing, ventilator management, and airway management techniques
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs
- Ability to perform physical examinations and diagnostic evaluations efficiently while maintaining high standards of patient care
