PHB Lighting is seeking an experienced, hands-on Finishing Department Supervisor / Lead Sprayer to lead a team of approximately 3 to 4 employees in our custom decorative lighting factory.
This position is ideal for an experienced finisher with strong spray, color-matching, and metal-finishing skills who can also supervise employees, maintain quality standards, and help ensure customer deadlines are met.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct a finishing team of 3 to 4 employees.
- Assign daily work and priorities based on production schedules and customer deadlines.
- Perform and oversee spray finishing, lacquer application, custom color matching, patinas, antique finishes, bronze finishes, blackened finishes, painted finishes, and other specialty decorative finishes.
- Use dyes, pigments, and tinted lacquers to blend colors across different metals and alloys.
- Match production finishes to approved customer samples and physical control samples.
- Inspect work for color consistency, sheen, surface quality, coverage, and other finish defects.
- Approve completed work before it moves to assembly or shipping.
- Train employees in proper finishing, spraying, preparation, quality control, and safety procedures.
- Document finish formulas, dye ratios, materials, and application methods so approved finishes can be reproduced.
- Maintain physical control samples whenever practical.
- Manage inventory of lacquers, dyes, solvents, paints, patina chemicals, spray supplies, and related materials.
- Identify quality issues, material shortages, or production delays early and communicate them to management.
- Maintain an organized, efficient, and safe finishing department.
Qualifications
- Several years of professional spray-finishing experience.
- Prior experience finishing metal products.
- Strong experience with lacquers, dyes, pigments, color matching, and custom decorative finishes.
- Ability to blend finishes across brass, bronze, steel, stainless steel, aluminum, castings, and other materials.
- Prior supervisory or team-lead experience.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work within customer deadlines.
Experience in decorative lighting, architectural metalwork, custom furniture, cabinetry, automotive finishing, aerospace finishing, luxury fixtures, or other high-quality manufacturing environments is preferred.
Schedule
Full-time, 40 hours per week, plus overtime as required to support production schedules and customer commitments.
