Barton Overhead Door is hiring one experienced Commercial Overhead Door & Operator Service Technician for our Modesto team.
This is a field service position, not a general labor or helper role. We need someone who can arrive at a commercial site, find the actual problem, explain the repair clearly, complete the work safely, and document what was done.
What you will work on
- Sectional, sheet, rolling steel, high-speed, fire, and cold-storage doors
- Commercial operators, controls, safety devices, photo eyes, limits, and related electrical components
- Springs, cables, rollers, hinges, tracks, panels, and other door hardware
- Preventive maintenance, safety inspections, and clear service documentation
- Commercial door and operator installations when service work requires it
- Field measurements and practical repair or replacement recommendations
What we are looking for
Direct commercial overhead door and operator service experience is strongly preferred. We will also consider someone with solid industrial maintenance, electromechanical service, gate, dock-equipment, or similar field experience if you can show that you diagnose problems yourself and can learn commercial door systems quickly.
You should be able to:
- Troubleshoot both mechanical and low-voltage electrical problems
- Use meters, hand tools, power tools, ladders, and lifts safely
- Read wiring diagrams, manuals, and job information
- Work independently while communicating with dispatch, customers, and the rest of the team
- Make sound field decisions and know when a door or operator should be taken out of service
- Keep an orderly company vehicle, tools, parts, and service records
- Show consistent attendance, punctuality, and safe work habits
Requirements
- Current driver license and an acceptable driving record
- Ability to communicate clearly with customers and complete English-language safety and service documentation
- Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening
- Ability to safely lift and handle parts and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to stand, climb, bend, reach, work overhead, and work indoors or outdoors in varying conditions
Pay and benefits
- $25.00-$50.00 per hour, based on demonstrated commercial door and operator experience
- Full-time, approximately 40 hours per week
- Monday through Friday, with 8-hour or 10-hour shifts and overtime as needed
- Health insurance and health savings account
- Paid time off and retirement plan
- Company service vehicle
- Employee discount
- Bonus opportunities and commission pay
