Artisan Oak is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Laser Engraving Operator to join our growing warehouse team. This is not an entry-level position—we are looking for someone who can confidently operate, troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize industrial CO2 laser engraving systems while producing premium personalized products to exact standards.
This role is responsible for engraving customer artwork onto our handcrafted whiskey tumblers, shot glasses, ash trays, gift sets, and other American-made wood products. The ideal candidate understands both the technical and creative aspects of laser engraving, including machine operation, graphic preparation, quality control, and preventative maintenance.

Requirements:
- 1-2 years experience operating industrial CO2 laser engraving systems
- Strong understanding of laser operation, focus, power, speed, frequency, and engraving optimization
- Experience preparing production-ready artwork and customer files
- Proficiency with LightBurn, Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, or similar vector-based design software
- Ability to create, modify, clean up, and optimize vector artwork
- Strong understanding of SVG, AI, PDF, EPS, and other production file formats
- Ability to troubleshoot engraving quality issues and machine performance problems
- Experience performing routine maintenance on laser systems, including optics cleaning and alignment
- Ability to read and interpret production drawings, work orders, and customer specifications
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple production priorities
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Minimum 2 years of relevant laser engraving, manufacturing, or production experience
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
Preferred but Not Required:
- Experience operating Omtech Laser Thunder, Epilog, or similar industrial laser systems
- Experience engraving wood products
- Experience with rotary engraving attachments
- Knowledge of exhaust systems, airflow testing, and laser fume extraction
- Experience creating original vector artwork and customer design mockups
- Photography or product imaging experience
- Production manufacturing experience in a high-volume environment
Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain multiple industrial CO2 laser engraving systems
- Prepare customer artwork and production files
- Set up and optimize engraving jobs for efficiency and quality
- Perform machine calibration, focusing, testing, and preventative maintenance
- Clean and inspect lenses, mirrors, exhaust systems, and machine components
- Monitor engraving quality throughout production runs
- Troubleshoot equipment, software, and production issues
- Collaborate with production and fulfillment to maintain workflow and deadlines
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Continuously improve production processes and efficiency
