POSITION OVERVIEW
The Virginia Right to Vote Campaign is seeking a highly motivated and organized Regional Field Director (RFD) to support and execute the campaign's field strategy within an assigned region of Virginia.
The Regional Field Director will work directly with the State Field Director to build a strong regional volunteer and community organizing operation focused on educating and mobilizing Virginians around the Right to Vote constitutional amendment.
This is a part-time, 20-hour-per-week position requiring significant community engagement. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is comfortable recruiting volunteers, developing relationships with community organizations, organizing events, canvassing, and working toward measurable weekly field goals.
Evening and weekend availability will be required based on campaign activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESField Organizing & Volunteer Recruitment
- Recruit, train, engage, and retain volunteers throughout the assigned region.
- Build a regional volunteer structure capable of supporting canvassing, community outreach, voter education, and campaign events.
- Coordinate door-to-door canvassing and other direct voter-contact activities.
- Recruit volunteers through community organizations, colleges and universities, civic groups, faith communities, and campaign events.
- Identify and develop volunteer leaders who can take responsibility for organizing within their communities.
- Conduct regular volunteer outreach and follow-up to maintain engagement throughout the campaign.
- Meet weekly and monthly volunteer recruitment and voter-contact goals established by the State Field Director.
Community & Coalition Engagement
- Develop relationships with community organizations, advocacy groups, civic organizations, faith communities, colleges and universities, and other regional partners.
- Encourage organizations to participate in Right to Vote campaign activities.
- Identify community events, meetings, festivals, forums, and other opportunities for campaign engagement.
- Coordinate campaign participation at community events, including volunteers, literature, signs, voter education materials, and outreach activities.
- Expand the campaign's presence in communities throughout the assigned region.
Campus Engagement
- Build relationships with students, student organizations, faculty, and campus-based organizations.
- Recruit college students to volunteer with the campaign.
- Support voter education, volunteer recruitment, canvassing, and campaign activities on college campuses.
- Identify opportunities for campus organizations to formally engage with and support campaign activities.
Regional Field Operations
- Develop and implement weekly regional field plans in coordination with the State Field Director.
- Organize canvasses, volunteer shifts, community outreach activities, and regional events.
- Maintain accurate volunteer, event, and voter-contact records.
- Track progress toward established regional field goals.
- Provide regular reports to the State Field Director regarding volunteer recruitment, canvassing, organizational outreach, events, and voter contacts.
- Ensure campaign data is entered accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain appropriate quality-control practices for regional field activities.
Campaign Representation
- Represent the Virginia Right to Vote Campaign professionally at community meetings, coalition meetings, events, canvasses, and other public activities.
- Communicate the campaign's message clearly and consistently.
- Educate volunteers and community members about the Right to Vote constitutional amendment and the importance of voting rights in Virginia.
- Maintain a positive, inclusive, and professional campaign culture.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Competitive applicants should be goal-oriented, organized, dependable, and comfortable working directly with volunteers and community members.
Qualifications include:
- Experience in field organizing, political campaigns, civic engagement, community organizing, advocacy, voter outreach, or a related area preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, engage, and motivate volunteers.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining regular communication with campaign leadership.
- Ability to meet weekly and monthly goals and deadlines.
- Comfortable conducting door-to-door canvassing and participating in community-based voter outreach.
- Comfortable speaking with individuals and groups about voting rights and civic engagement.
- Proficiency with spreadsheets, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and similar technology.
- Experience with VAN or other voter-contact and organizing platforms preferred.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to travel throughout the assigned region.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends when campaign activities require.
- Commitment to protecting voting rights and expanding civic participation throughout Virginia.
Pay: $20.00 per hour
