American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring at least 2 years of experience and a Louisiana or Compact RN license, with night shifts and a strong cardiac skill set.

Inpatient Med/Surg Telemetry unit in a hospital setting
-
Patient population includes chest pain, CAD, arrhythmias, MI, CHF, COPD exacerbation, PNA, PE, DM, HTN, renal failure, GI bleed, syncope, and PVD, with potential for med/surg overflow including sepsis, CVA, and COVID+
-
Specialized procedures include pre/post cath lab care, PPM/AICD, ablations, vascular surgeries (CEAs, fem-pops), titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Nitroglycerin, Dopamine, Heparin), and bedside sheath pulling

Special equipment includes telemetry monitoring, chest tubes, PCAs, epidurals, and wound vacs

Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:45–07:15

Float required to all other inpatient units

Every other holiday required

Specific scheduling requests such as block scheduling cannot be accommodated

Active Louisiana or Compact RN license currently in hand

BLS certification required (AHA-issued)

Minimum 2 years of RN experience required

Telemetry experience required, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and on-unit monitoring

Required clinical skills: CABG, chest tubes, post-angiogram/MI/cardiac cath care, sheath removal, port accessing, blood product administration, central/peripheral/PICC line care, IV insertion, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, isolation precautions, and wound care/management

Candidate must reside 65+ miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

In the event of an emergency (e.g., natural disaster), staff may be assigned to an emergency team and expected to remain at the facility or serve on a relief team until the event passes
