The Senior Network Design Engineer is responsible for designing, improving, and supporting Fitness International’s enterprise network infrastructure from the Irving, Texas office. This is an onsite role with no hybrid or remote work arrangement. The position focuses on network architecture, design standards, implementation planning, network orchestration and automation standards, and advanced operational support across the company’s Fortinet network and security environment, including firewalls, SD-WAN, switching, wireless LAN, authentication, reporting, analytics, endpoint access, and related Fortinet management platforms. This role also supports and helps design dynamic routing environments using BGP and OSPF across Fortinet and Arista platforms, while leveraging SolarWinds and Tufin products for monitoring, alerting, reporting, compliance, and operational management.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company’s enterprise network architecture across corporate, data center, and remote site environments.
- Design, support, administer, and troubleshoot the company’s Fortinet network and security environment, including firewalls, SD-WAN, switching, wireless, authentication, reporting, analytics, endpoint access, and related management platforms.
- Develop and maintain scalable routing designs using BGP and OSPF on Fortinet and Arista network platforms.
- Create and review network designs, standards, implementation plans, migration plans, diagrams, procedures, and operational documentation.
- Develop, maintain, and promote network orchestration and automation standards to improve implementation consistency, reduce manual effort, and strengthen operational support processes.
- Evaluate network performance, availability, resiliency, and security posture using SolarWinds, Tufin, and related management tools.
- Provide senior-level troubleshooting for WAN, LAN, wireless LAN, firewall, routing, switching, VPN, and SD-WAN issues across corporate and remote locations.
- Review and guide firewall policy changes, rule reviews, network access requests, and related change management activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including infrastructure, security, application, operations, facilities, vendors, and business stakeholders, to gather requirements, coordinate changes, support implementations, and improve day-to-day network operations.
- Partner with vendors, service providers, and internal IT teams to design solutions, resolve complex issues, and deliver network projects.
- Lead or participate in network upgrades, patching, configuration changes, deployments, lifecycle maintenance, and technology refresh activities.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and provide after-hours support for network incidents or maintenance windows as needed.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- 10 + years of hands-on network engineering, network design, network operations, or infrastructure support experience.
- Expert knowledge of enterprise network architecture, design principles, resiliency, availability, segmentation, routing, switching, wireless, VPN, firewall, and SD-WAN technologies.
- Working knowledge of Fortinet firewall administration, Fortinet SD-WAN, Fortinet switching, and Fortinet centralized management tools.
- Proficiency routing protocols, including BGP and OSPF.
- Experience designing and supporting LAN, wireless LAN, WAN, VPN, firewall, routing, switching, and SD-WAN environments.
- Proficiency using network monitoring, alerting, compliance, or management platforms such as SolarWinds and Tufin.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills with the ability to analyze complex issues, identify root cause, recommend corrective actions, and drive incidents to resolution.
- Ability to produce clear technical documentation, including network diagrams, standards, configurations, procedures, and implementation plans.
- Knowledge of network orchestration, automation standards, repeatable deployment practices, and operational support process improvement.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly to IT teams, business users, vendors, and management.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional technical and business teams to define requirements, coordinate work, communicate risks, and support successful project and operational outcomes.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, lead technical workstreams, meet deadlines, and work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to protect sensitive and confidential information.
- Ability to support scheduled maintenance activities, operational changes, and after-hours implementation work as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fortinet certifications or formal Fortinet training.
- Arista certifications or formal Arista training.
- Cisco certifications are a plus but are not required.
- Experience designing or supporting Fortinet management, reporting, authentication, access, switching, wireless LAN, firewall, SD-WAN, or related security platforms.
- Experience designing or supporting Arista switching or routing environments.
- Experience with firewall policy management, security rule lifecycle, or network compliance tools.
- Experience working in a multi-site retail, enterprise, or distributed network environment.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers or serving as a technical lead on network projects.
