Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration; report changes to supervising nurses or physicians
- Provide medication reminders and assist with medication administration following medical instructions and regulations
- Support clients with specialized care needs such as Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, hospice, or end-of-life care
- Operate Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to document patient information accurately and maintain medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Perform light housekeeping duties including cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, and ensuring a safe living environment
- Use medical terminology appropriately when documenting care activities and communicating with healthcare teams
- Safely utilize equipment such as Hoyer lifts or other mobility aids to assist with patient transfers while adhering to safety protocols
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home healthcare settings is highly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities requiring specialized care like catheter management or memory care
- Knowledge of home & community care regulations and best practices for geriatric patient care
- Experience providing compassionate caregiving for seniors or patients with chronic conditions such as Alzheimer’s or dementia
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for medical documentation and record keeping
- Certification in CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS), along with First Aid training
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physically demanding tasks associated with caregiving duties
