In this energetic role, you will be responsible for safely operating box trucks to deliver freight efficiently across various routes, including over-the-road (OTR) driving routes. Your expertise in commercial truck driving, combined with your knowledge of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and hazardous materials regulations, will ensure smooth and compliant deliveries. Responsibilities
- Safely operate box trucks, including those with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, or tankers, adhering strictly to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and safety standards.
- Plan and execute delivery routes using GPS navigation systems to optimize efficiency and timeliness.
- Load and unload freight manually or with equipment, ensuring cargo is secured properly for transport.
- Transport hazardous materials or dangerous goods following all hazardous materials regulations and safety protocols.
- Manage the transportation of automobile parts or other specialized freight via tractor-trailers or flatbed trucks.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after trips, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, and cargo handling in compliance with FMCSA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery statuses, or unforeseen delays.
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving and route driving across local or OTR routes.
- Familiarity with truck loading and unloading procedures, manual handling, and logistics cargo handling.
- Knowledge of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) rules, and hazardous materials regulations.
- Experience operating refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or tractor-trailers preferred.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL), with endorsements for Hazmat or tanker loads considered a strong plus.
- Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles confidently and safely.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures related to dangerous goods and freight transportation standards.
