Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Emergency Shelter Manager to lead and oversee the operations of our emergency shelter facility. This vital role involves coordinating shelter services, managing staff and volunteers, and ensuring a safe, supportive environment for individuals experiencing homelessness or crisis. The Emergency Shelter Manager will develop and implement programs that meet the diverse needs of residents, foster positive relationships within the community, and uphold organizational policies. Duties
- Lead daily shelter operations, ensuring safety, cleanliness, and adherence to organizational policies.
- Supervise shelter staff and volunteers, providing training, guidance, and performance evaluations to foster a motivated team.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate programs tailored to residents’ needs, including behavioral health support and life skills development.
- Manage shelter budget, track expenditures, and ensure resources are allocated effectively to maximize impact.
- Build strong relationships with community partners, social service agencies, healthcare providers, and law enforcement to coordinate comprehensive support for residents.
- Oversee intake and discharge processes with sensitivity and professionalism while maintaining accurate records.
- Respond promptly to emergencies or incidents within the shelter, coordinating as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and organizational standards.
Qualifications
- Proven management experience in shelter operations or social services settings.
- Strong background in program development and program management tailored to vulnerable populations.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral health challenges.
- Exceptional relationship management skills to collaborate effectively with community partners and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated administrative expertise including budgeting, record-keeping, and reporting.
- Supervisory experience leading teams in fast-paced environments with diverse needs.
- Knowledge of social work principles, trauma-informed care practices, and crisis intervention strategies.
