As a Cook II, you'll play a vital role in preparing nutritious, appealing meals while maintaining the highest standards of food quality and safety. Responsibilities include:
- Prepare meals for patients, residents, visitors, and staff
- Cook a variety of menu items from scratch using standardized recipes
- Follow production schedules while minimizing food waste
- Maintain strict food safety, sanitation, and HACCP standards
- Accurately complete food temperature logs and production records
- Ensure food is attractively presented and served with quality in mind
- Keep kitchen work areas, storage rooms, and equipment clean and organized
- Participate in daily production meetings and work collaboratively with the Nutritional Services team
Required:
- Previous cooking experience
- Experience preparing meals from scratch using recipes
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, proper food handling, cooking temperatures, and kitchen equipment
- Ability to organize multiple tasks in a busy kitchen environment
Preferred:
- Experience working under HACCP standards
- Previous hospital, nursing home, or healthcare food service experience
- Formal culinary education or training beyond high school
