Position Summary
Eads Hardware is seeking a friendly, dependable, and customer-focused Cashier to join our team. As the first and last point of contact for our customers, the Cashier plays a key role in creating a welcoming shopping experience by providing excellent customer service, accurately processing transactions, and assisting customers with their hardware and home improvement needs. Eads Hardware is known for its knowledgeable staff and strong customer service, making these qualities especially important for this role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Accurately process cash, credit, debit, check, and gift card transactions using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Answer customer questions and direct customers to the appropriate department when needed.
- Assist with returns, exchanges, and special orders according to store policies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked checkout area.
- Help stock merchandise, face shelves, and keep front-end displays neat.
- Answer telephone calls and assist customers with general inquiries.
- Promote current sales, seasonal items, and store promotions.
- Work collaboratively with team members to provide outstanding customer service.
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Previous cashier or retail experience is preferred but not required.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Basic math and cash-handling abilities.
- Ability to operate a computer and POS system.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work in a team environment.
- Willingness to learn hardware products and assist customers.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced retail environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and carrying merchandise.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
