GrayMatter HR is partnering with a client to hire an Associate Attorney for a growing family law practice based in Taunton, MA.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career attorney who wants to focus on practicing law without the burden of running a practice or generating business. The firm offers mentorship, case support, flexible scheduling, and strong growth potential, including possible advancement within 1 to 2 years for the right candidate.
Duties
- Represent clients in court appearances, hearings, negotiations, and other legal proceedings
- Conduct comprehensive legal research using tools such as LexisNexis, Westlaw, or similar platforms to support case strategy and legal opinions
- Draft clear, precise legal documents, including pleadings, motions, memoranda, discovery requests, discovery responses, contracts, and correspondence
- Assist in preparing cases for trial by organizing evidence, drafting motions, preparing exhibits, and coordinating with clients and witnesses
- Manage an active caseload while meeting billable hour expectations and internal deadlines
- Communicate professionally and timely with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and internal team members
- Engage in negotiations with opposing counsel to resolve matters efficiently and favorably for clients
- Maintain organized case files, update case management systems, and support accurate legal administrative processes
- Collaborate with attorneys and support staff to move cases forward efficiently and deliver strong client service
Skills
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Active Massachusetts law license in good standing
- 1+ years of family law experience, or experience in a related litigation-based practice area
- Strong legal research skills, including experience using LexisNexis, Westlaw, or similar research tools
- Superior legal writing skills with the ability to produce well-organized, accurate, and persuasive drafts
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex laws, regulations, and case facts
- Effective negotiation skills and sound professional judgment
- Ability to manage time independently, prioritize competing deadlines, and maintain strong attention to detail
- Professional demeanor, courtroom presence, and confidence communicating with clients, courts, and opposing counsel
- Prior law office experience and familiarity with legal administrative processes preferred
- Strong desire to learn, grow, and develop professionally

Pay: $75,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
