Semcac is seeking a dedicated Family Education Paraprofessional (FEP) to support early childhood education and strengthen family engagement within our Head Start program. This role works closely with teachers, children, and families to promote school readiness, positive development, and access to community resources.
Key ResponsibilitiesClassroom Support
- Assist teachers with daily classroom activities and lesson preparation
- Help create and maintain engaging indoor/outdoor learning environments
- Support child assessments through observation, screenings, and documentation
- Assist with daily routines (meals, hygiene, transitions, attendance)
- Promote positive behavior, communication, and social interaction
- Respond to emergencies and follow health and safety protocols
Family Engagement
- Build supportive, respectful relationships with families
- Assist with parent communication, conferences, and home visits
- Support Family Partnership Agreements and goal-setting
- Connect families to community resources and services
- Provide support during times of crisis
- Assist with parent meetings, committees, and leadership development
Community & Program Support
- Act as a liaison between families and community partners
- Maintain knowledge of local resources and services
- Support recruitment, enrollment, and program outreach efforts
- Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in all interactions
QualificationsEducation & Experience
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential OR
- Two (2) years of post-secondary education in human services and three (3) years of related experience
- Equivalent combination of education and experience totaling five (5) years will be considered
- Ability to obtain Family Services Credential within 18 months (training provided)
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
