About the Position
We are seeking a dedicated, student-centered English as a New Language (ENL) Teacher to support multilingual learners in grades K–12. The successful candidate will provide high-quality instruction, delivered virtually, that develops students' English language proficiency while supporting academic achievement across content areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver ENL instruction aligned with New York State Learning Standards and NYSED regulations.
- Develop and implement engaging lessons that promote listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the linguistic and academic needs of multilingual learners at varying proficiency levels.
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of assessments, language proficiency levels, and academic performance.
- Utilize data to inform instruction and support student growth.
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and culturally responsive classroom environment.
- Communicate effectively with and provide resources to support student success.
- Attend professional development sessions and continuously seek to develop
Required Qualifications
- Valid New York State Teaching Certification in ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) or equivalent ENL certification.
- Bachelor's degree in Education, TESOL, Linguistics, English, or a related field.
- Demonstrated knowledge of second language acquisition and instructional best practices for multilingual learners.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Preferred
- Master's degree in TESOL, Bilingual Education, or a related field.
- Prior experience teaching ENL/ESL students in an urban K–12 setting.
- Demonstrated success teaching in a virtual environment, a plus
- Fluency in a language other than English (Spanish, Chinese, Arabic)
- Experience using educational technology and tech resources to support language development and student engagement.
Pay: $45.00 - $50.00 per hour
