Duties
- Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum plans that promote early childhood development, literacy, and social skills.
- Provide attentive infant and/or toddler care by monitoring health, safety, and well-being throughout the day.
- Manage classroom activities to ensure a positive, structured environment that encourages exploration and discovery.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about their child's progress, milestones, and daily experiences.
- Utilize classroom management techniques to maintain an organized space conducive to learning and safety.
- Apply behavior management strategies to support emotional regulation and positive social interactions among children.
- Follow mandated reporting laws by accurately documenting any concerns related to child welfare or safety incidents.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of child development principles specific to infants and toddlers.
- Experience working with children in daycare or preschool settings, including classroom experience with early childhood education.
- Proficiency in curriculum development, lesson planning, and implementing educational activities focused on literacy, math, physical education, and Montessori methods.
- Ability to manage a classroom effectively while fostering a nurturing environment that supports individual needs.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with children, parents, colleagues, and community partners.
- Familiarity with special education practices and early intervention strategies for diverse learners.
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR certification to ensure safety during emergencies.
- Understanding of childhood welfare laws, standardized testing procedures, and behavior management techniques applicable to early childhood settings.
