Duties
- Provide daily care for swine including feeding, watering, and maintaining clean living environments to promote animal health and welfare.
- Assist with livestock handling, including gentle restraint and movement to ensure safety for animals and staff.
- Maintain specified housekeeping assignments, including power washing and disinfecting.
- Support breeding operations by managing artificial insemination procedures and tracking reproductive cycles accurately.
- Conduct health assessments/procedures to monitor livestock well-being.
- Operate farm machinery such as feeders, waterers, and cleaning equipment to maintain sanitation standards.
- Implement biosecurity protocols to prevent disease transmission and protect herd health.
- Assist in recording data related to breeding outcomes and livestock performance metrics.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of agriculture practices, livestock management, and animal husbandry principles.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during farm chores or equipment operation.
- Mechanical aptitude for maintaining farm machinery and equipment.
- Basic math skills for record keeping, data entry, and inventory management.
- Familiarity with farm sanitation standards to ensure a clean environment for animals.
- Knowledge of veterinary procedures related to livestock health management and biosecurity protocols.
- Excellent teamwork skills.
- Prior experience with livestock is highly desirable.
