Certified Teacher – Before & After School Enrichment Programs (LEAPS)

Pay: $28.00–$30.00 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)
Job Type: Part-Time
Schedule:
- Monday–Friday
- Before School: 6:45 a.m.–8:45 a.m.
- After School: 3:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m.
- Additional hours may be available during school breaks, special events, and Summer Camp.
Locations:
Leighton Elementary, Kingsford Park Elementary, Mexico Elementary ,Riley Elementary

The Oswego YMCA is seeking passionate, energetic, and dedicated Certified Teachers to join our growing Before & After School Enrichment Programs (LEAPS) team.
As a Certified Teacher, you'll create a safe, engaging, and educational environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive before and after the school day. You'll work alongside YMCA staff, families, and local school districts to provide meaningful enrichment experiences while making a lasting impact on the lives of children in our community.

What You'll Do
- Plan and lead engaging educational and enrichment activities.
- Create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
- Support children's academic, social, and emotional development.
- Supervise students while maintaining YMCA safety standards.
- Build strong relationships with children, families, and school staff.
- Encourage creativity, teamwork, leadership, and character development.
- Maintain attendance records and classroom documentation.
- Mentor and support Teacher Assistants when assigned.
- Participate in YMCA events, trainings, and professional development.
Qualifications
Required:
- Valid New York State Teaching Certification
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field
- Minimum two (2) years of classroom teaching experience
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Passion for working with school-age children
Preferred:
- Experience in youth development or enrichment programming
- CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
