Job Description:
Summary:
Under direct supervision, maintains and repairs diesel and gasoline industrial trucks, other industrial machinery and equipment, facility and grounds machinery and tools, and other related equipment associated with commercial motor vehicles and equipment to include trailers, dollies, forklifts and loaders. Completes inspections and preventive maintenance requirements; correcting vehicle/equipment deficiencies and keeping records. Maintains and lubricates tools and equipment, may change engines, transmission, differentials, tires, batteries, and other parts associated with industrial equipment.
Essential Functions:
To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed here are representative of the knowledge, skills, and or ability required. Five years related experience with gasoline and diesel engines, air brakes, commercial vehicle air systems and other parts and accessories associated with commercial motor vehicles and equipment, and or commercial motor vehicle trailer repair. Position requires technical understanding, attention to detail, dependability, thoroughness, verbal communication, documentation skills, inventory control and job knowledge.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Qualification:
Must be 21 + years of age or older. Must have own basic hand, air, and electric tools to repair and maintain heavy industrial vehicles and equipment. Specialty tools are a plus. Welding/ Fabrication experience is a plus.
Education / Experience:
A High School diploma or GED. Technical school preferred. Must have a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Reasoning Abilities
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Mechanic must have the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Language Communication
Must be able to read, write, and speak English to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, update records and respond to official inquiries.
Mathematic Skills – Computer Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Basic competency of laptop and associated software.

Mechanic must possess a high degree of attention to detail and considerable dexterity in the control of tools and machinery.

Mechanics, Welders, and Shop Laborers will be working most of the time indoors with protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes. Some work is outdoors with weather conditions of both hot and cold temperatures. There are periodic high noise levels and vibration associated with this job from engine noise, air compressor, air powered equipment and other shop noises. There is possibly sufficient noise, either constant or intermittent, to cause possible hearing loss. There is possibly of physical hazards such as exposure to fumes, odors, dust, and mechanical hazards and potentially dangerous life-threatening equipment and materials.
