Duties
- Prepare and serve meals in accordance with dietary guidelines, ensuring adherence to specific dietary requirements for residents
- Assist with food production, including portioning, plating, and presentation of meals
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, following all food safety and sanitation standards
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, utensils, and dining spaces through regular cleaning and sanitation procedures
- Support the dietary department by managing manual handling tasks such as heavy lifting and safe lifting practices
- Work collaboratively with nursing staff to accommodate special diets and nutritional needs of geriatric patients
- Follow workplace safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and manual handling techniques
Qualifications
- Previous experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or food industry settings is highly preferred
- Culinary experience with food preparation, meal service, and food handling skills
- Knowledge of food safety standards such as JCAHO regulations and sanitation procedures
- Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work well with geriatric patients and understand their unique dietary needs
- Basic math skills for accurate portioning and inventory management
- Certification in CPR and adherence to workplace safety guidelines are advantageous
- Experience operating kitchen equipment safely and effectively is essential
